El Towle's work is eclectic in both subject matter and mediums. His forty years as an art teacher provided him with the opportunity to explore seemingly endless modes of expression. While he favors oil and acrylic painting, he enjoys departures into silk, clay, watercolor, and other materials.
As a retired Art Teacher I enjoy spending my winters stoking the fires and working on themed painting series. Having my home and studio on Lake Champlain inspired my latest vibrant series of work. Misty lake scapes, sunsets, birds on the shore, giant flowers from my garden, are just a few examples of the subjects I explored in preparation for this show. I enjoy working in several mediums and especially enjoy the richness of oil paint or the translucency of acrylic.
