Wayne’s interest in photography started in high school when he used his Kodak 126 Instamatic as often as he could; including serving on the school’s yearbook photography committee. After graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in education, Wayne launched his education and photography careers at an elementary school and at the local newspaper, respectively. These careers co-existed until the summer of 2008 when he retired from his education career of 30 years. Wayne is now a full-time photographer who enjoys photographing a variety of springtime events, families at the Tyler Place during the summer, and school kids in the fall. His latest photography adventure is photographing dancers and models underwater. Wayne is also a fine art photographer and enjoys being a member a member of the Artist In Residence gallery and the Vermont Hand Crafters. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his grandkids, Bella and Jason, and traveling with his wife, Sally.
When Wayne became a member of the Vermont Professional Photographers (VPP) in 1991, it didn’t take him long to discover that print competitions was a great way for him to improve his photography. He started competing at state level in the early 1990s, at regional level in the late 90s, and at the national level in 2000. Through entering these print competitions, Wayne has won numerous awards at the state, regional and national level. The highest awards he won are his 14 selections to the PPA Traveling Loan Collection, and these selections earned Wayne the PPA High Level of Excellence Award in 2015. He became a Certified Professional Photographer and earned his Master of Photography degree in 2006, and became a Photographic Craftsman in 2015. Wayne still competes in print competitions today. |
