MAUREEN GENZLINGER
|
Maureen Genzlinger has been making decorative ornaments since 1979 when she began wrapping crochet thread around a double tetrahedral form made from folded cardstock. It was a quiet and peaceful way to relax after a day of teaching her kindergarten and first grade students and caring for 3 young children.
Today, after more than 38 years of practice, she has made these simple forms into works of art with intricate patterns of color and texture. The wrapping materials have expanded from crochet yarns to silk ribbons, hand spun and hand dyed threads, textured and silk yarns. Wrapping techniques have evolved to include reverse wraps, multiple layers and multiple materials on a single form. Multiple forms are combined into mobiles and beautiful display stands are created from reclaimed wood scraps. Maureen is a juried member of Vermont Hand Crafters, a juried artist at the Grand Isle Art Works, a juried artist at the Artist In Residence Gallery in St. Albans and a member of the Milton Artists Guild. |
