MARIANNE MARSHALL
Marianne Lipscombe Marshall, ESQ.
I love painting with watercolors! Raised in the dry prairies of West Texas I love, love water. I love the way watercolor paint moves on the paper sometimes creating “surprises”. With four grown children and seven+ grandchildren, I have lots to give thanks for and also give me inspiration. I started painting to fulfill a promise deferred years ago and find it both fun and relaxing. I began a few “formal” lessons in 2002 while in Texas caring for my Dad and shared my adventure with watercolors with him during his final years living with diabetic dementia. He produced some lovely paintings from his childhood memories of Seattle. As a breast cancer survivor, I continue my journey today with friends and with Kathleen Bergeron’s art classes. My goal has been to create paintings from which I can make notecards to share with family, friends, and clients. I often write prose to celebrate the occasion and the painting. I also might find a psalm or literary quote which “fits” to include with the card. I make notecards and framed prints from my work for birthdays, Christmas, bereavement and “just because”. One friend keeps my cards on her dining room chair rail. Another friend used one of my paintings for her father’s memorial service bulletin cover. It gives me joy to know that my church has used one for the Easter service bulletin for several years. Another friend found peace in one landscape as her brother fought his battle with cancer. I love painting butterflies, for celebrations and memorials. I enjoy sharing my love of watercolor painting with our grandchildren. “Can we paint now Grammy?” |
