Introduction to Monotype

Looking for a fun and creative way to jump into printmaking? This intro class is all about monotype—a playful process where you create one-of-a-kind prints by painting or drawing on a smooth surface, then transferring the image to paper using a small press.
We’ll be working small-scale and using non-toxic, soy-based Akua inks, perfect for experimenting without the mess. You’ll learn simple techniques like layering, texture, and stenciling to build up your image, and you’ll leave with a handful of original prints you made yourself.
No experience needed, and all materials are provided. Feel free to bring anything you’d like to try printing with—dry leaves, lace, anything with interesting thin texture. Come ready to play and explore!
