Jaimie Katon grew up in Vermont, surrounded by family members that placed their creative thoughts on canvas and paper. At a young age, Jaimie initially found joy in drawing, focusing on shading and the contrast of colors. Over the years, her love for art expanded into acrylic painting – the main form of art her family was accustomed to. It didn’t come easily at first, and as Jaimie left for college, finding the time to continue was hard. Over the next 20 years, Jaimie built a career and family, but her passion for painting remained. Every now and then, she would sit at an easel and paint whatever was on her mind – but it wasn’t until recently that the love of painting became more apparent, and she felt more inspired by the work she was creating, which only drove her passion further. Jaimie’s love for fall was the initial motivation behind her creations. For her, painting landscapes brought her vision of the beauty of all four seasons in Vermont to canvas. Painting is now a big part of Jaimie’s life. She isn’t one to sit and paint just to paint, nor is it as simple as painting something that someone asks for. Her paintings come from a place of inspiration and the feeling or image that she feels compelled to put on canvas. Jaimie hopes to provide inspiration, emotion, and connectivity to those who view her work. Jaimie currently lives in Swanton, Vermont with her husband, 4 kids, 4 dogs, and a cat, as well as working full time as a director in finance at UVMMC. Although her busy life can challenge her finding the time, her love for this work is something she is excited to continue pursuing and sharing.
